I am responsible for representing the JCR's views and interests. If you want anything changed or want to know more about the way the JCR, College or the University operates then please get in touch. If you have any problems academically or personally I am always willing to help; email or call me anytime.

My main responsibility is organising Freshers' week. However, during the year I help the President as much as possible. I also have a number of Committees to attend.

I manage the JCR accounts, and keep people up to date with our financial situation. I am also responsible for staffing issues.

I manage the administrative side of JCR – everything from keeping the office running to taking minutes of GMs and Committee Meetings. I also make sure the constitution and standing orders are up-to-date and working. I’m a great person to talk to if you want to get the JCR to do something it doesn’t already do, or want to find out what the JCR already does. I’m also a good person for general enquiries – I attend almost every meeting!

I manage the Lindsay Bar, the only student-run bar in Oxford. If you would like more information on any aspect of the bar including hosting events in it please feel free to contact me.

We are the welfare and housing officers for the JCR committee - feel free to contact us at any time about anything to do with welfare or housing or anything that's on your mind.

The Entz officer runs all the entertainment in the JCR from Bops to film nights and nights out on the town... it's a responsible job.

I'm responsible for the academic welfare of members of the JCR, by offering advice and support on the disciplinary procedure, organising stress-relieving events and attending library committee. I keep the JCR informed about careers and the events run by the university Careers Office and organise in-Balliol career events.

We represent Balliol JCR views to the student organisations NUS and OUSU and give feedback to the Balliol community of the issues raised at their meetings.  We also promote links with Balliol's graduate community, the Middle Common Room (MCR).

We raise money for various charities through events, competitions and sales. We also know about what goes on in Oxford charity-wise, so if you have ideas of something you want to organize, or want to get involved in some way but don'’t know where to look, get in touch!

We're responsible for looking after interviewees during their interview process, helping people in College participate in various access schemes, running Open Days and organising the alternative prospectus.

This role is all about fixing stuff and making stuff. Ms/Mr D&M is responsible for the upkeep of the JCR facilities which ranges from buying a new TV remote every two weeks when the old one gets lost again to purchasing a lion costume from china.

The LGBT Officer represents Balliol's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender communities to make sure they always have a voice.

This post was a merger of the Overseas Officers post and the Ethnic Minorities Officer post in 2008. We're here to represent all students of ethnic minorities and respond to any complaints of harassment or discrimination experienced by students - even though these have been extremely rare. We're also here to make sure all overseas students at Balliol are represented at JCR. We take any concerns they might have to committee and we also try to provide basic welfare services for any overseas students who may be having trouble with the College. In addition, we also take care of storage of luggage for overseas students over vacations (staircase 13).

We're here to ensure the women of Balliol are effectively represented and catered for in all aspects of college and university life, providing a welfare, social, academic and access service. We also support wider campaigns and charities pertaining to women's wellbeing in and out of college.

I'm responsible for ensuring that there are no barriers for disabled students to participating in college life in all its fulness. I'm a good person to chat to if you would like any help accessing services or adaptations, including special exam arrangements, or if you'd just like a general chat about disability.

Also know as the Mike Woodin Officers, we work on environmental and ethical issues at a college and university level. We work to ensure that Balliol is an environmentally sustainable college, and that our actions do not support unethical practices. We also represent Balliol on the OUSU Environment & Ethics Committee.

We like to think of ourselves as the moral conscience of the college - if there was ever to be an angry mob raised from the JCR there is no doubt we would be at its head.

The Website and Computer Officer is responsible for the maintenance and development of the JCR Website and mail lists as well as any other computer related issues.

This is a permanent position held by the brilliant Denise who makes the JCR run in the smooth and efficient way it does. Denise manages all the money and keeps on top of the wages as well as providing services such as ordering photos and storing photos that people forget to collect and being suffocated by all of those photos as they slowly build up around her desk.

The Drama Society is there to support Balliol drama with advice and most importantly funding. The Drama Society President oversees all of this activity from his thespian throne.

The Drama Society Secretary looks after the Drama Society's money and ensures it doesn't get lost or stolen.

The Drama Society Secretary supports the President in his or her role and performs all those essential tasks which are necessary to Balliol Drama.

The Bar Social Secretaries organise fun events for you to enjoy in and around the Lindsay Bar. They are famed for karaoke and open mic nights in particular. They are generally good fun people.

The Assistant Bar Manager. Jack/Vera support Lord Lindsay with the running of the Bar. This is an essential role and one that requires a great deal of responsibility, not to mention pint-pulling skills.

Maestro Music looks after the JCR's musical operations including the equipment provided for students in the music room.

The JCR Deans are responsible for discipline in the JCR; without them the JCR is a lawless and dangerous place.

Comrades Tortoise are responsible for the welfare of the College gender-confused tortoise Matilda.

Organises Arts Week in 5th Week of Michaelmas Term

The Sports Rep is responsible for ensuring that students have access to good sporting facilities within College.

Ms/Mr Picture fund looks after the JCR's collection of artwork and organises the annual distribution of it amongst students by means of a ballot each Michaelmas term.

Comrade Bike Rep is your first port of call for any bike related issues. He/she can help mend things that go wrong with your bike - maybe - or at least recommend someone who can.

Entz Committee assist the Entz Officer with the provision of entertainment to the JCR. The main task of the committee is decorating the JCR before Bops. Good decorations are essential for a good bop.
