I manage the administrative side of JCR – everything from keeping the office running to taking minutes of GMs and Committee Meetings. I also make sure the constitution and standing orders are up-to-date and working. I’m a great person to talk to if you want to get the JCR to do something it doesn’t already do, or want to find out what the JCR already does. I’m also a good person for general enquiries – I attend almost every meeting!

This post was a merger of the Overseas Officers post and the Ethnic Minorities Officer post in 2008. We're here to represent all students of ethnic minorities and respond to any complaints of harassment or discrimination experienced by students - even though these have been extremely rare. We're also here to make sure all overseas students at Balliol are represented at JCR. We take any concerns they might have to committee and we also try to provide basic welfare services for any overseas students who may be having trouble with the College. In addition, we also take care of storage of luggage for overseas students over vacations (staircase 13).

This is a permanent position held by the brilliant Denise who makes the JCR run in the smooth and efficient way it does. Denise manages all the money and keeps on top of the wages as well as providing services such as ordering photos and storing photos that people forget to collect and being suffocated by all of those photos as they slowly build up around her desk.
