How it began....
Having conquered Britain in 1066, William the Conqueror decided it was about time there was a place in Oxford where a student soaked in last night's spirits could drag their heavy limbs and glazed over expressions to try and forget what had and what might have been. Pondering at length this issue that has perplexed the greatest minds throughout history, he was inspired by the sight of a peasant making a sausage from the
remains of his pet cat and began creation of the greatest culinary experience since the legalization of deep-fried Snickers (at that time known as Marathon)... he failed in his efforts and decided instead to settle for the plebian run, grease-filled, common-room based dungeon of Pantry. From this moment, Pantry has gone from strength to strength, feeding troops during the Napoleonic wars (usually when they drunkenly stumbled upstairs from the Lindsay), poisoning Gerries in WW1&2 with poorly cooked meat and 'don't touch the crust' pastry and now keeping the hysterical, hung-over and hungry students of Balliol in a state of melted-cheese based bliss.
Led by the Foody Brothers (figures of infamy, obesity and type two diabetes), who are themselves equipped with a select team of battle-axes, Pantry tries to make your mornings a bit less painful, your lunchtime a bit more relaxed and your dinner a bit of a gamble through our food, our banter and watching the Foodies burn their hair...We don't claim to be the healthiest food based business around (we have three fryers and a single bowl of fruit) but we like to think that Pantry is unique; cheap, tasty (99% of the time) and relaxed, we're happy as long as you are...unless you're buying lunch from Café Creme.
Bon apetit & bonne chance,
Foody Bros.
