HEY FRESHERS!

Ok, so as the news feed is just full of information that is probably of very little interest to incoming students, and absolutely no interest to current students, I thought I'd post something for all you lovely incoming freshers. And, if you unfortunately exist, you horrible incoming freshers too. In traditional freshers welcoming style, I shall include some extreme overenthusiasm.

So here we go, it's the...

BALLIOL COLLEGE FRESHER'S E-GUIDE!!! OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
http://www.balliol.ox.ac.uk/current-members/freshers-e-guide

This is a pretty comprehensive guide. There is SO MUCH stuff you can access from that page. Particularly useful will be:

The TRULY AMAZING tick-list of things to do before you arrive (please do these things)
http://www.balliol.ox.ac.uk/sites/default/files/TICK-LIST.pdf

The MIND-BLOWINGLY well-written Balliol for Beginners Guide (AWESOME!!!)
http://www.balliol.ox.ac.uk/sites/default/files/Balliol_For_Beginners_2010.pdf

So yeah, check out those things, and if you have any questions, hilarious e-cards or videos of sweet dance-moves send me an email: simon.stewart@balliol.ox.ac.uk

HT 5th Week is:

Welfare Week

In an attempt to combat 5th week blues, your friendly neighbourhood JCR Welfare Officers are putting on a week of events which are a subtle combination of relaxing and really really fun. (and possibly informative if they can get away with it).

Anyway, the timetable is as follows:

Monday - EM&O
Tuesday - LGBT
Wednesday - SWD
Thursday - AcAf
Friday - Women's Welfare
Saturday - Men's Welfare
Sunday - Supporting Others

Over the course of the week you will be presented with between one and all of the following:

A Hammock
Masculinity Debates
Ali's Awesome Aikido: A self-defence masterclass
The Day of the Dolphin
Massage and Aromatherapy
Swedish Museli
The Return Of BFL: Balliol Football League
Rocky Marathons
Tea Parties
Auctions
Pingu
Date-Rape*
Cake Decoration
Financial Aid Information
An incredible minimal techno mix
Gender Stereotypes Film Battle
Escaping the Oxford Bubble: A Walk To The Pub
Rainbow Shots
Paint-Flicking
Bubble-Wrap Popping
Yoga
Herbal Teas
Other Things That Are Also Great
*...awareness workshops - including spiked drink testing lip-gloss, spiked drink testing coasters, and a disappointed Chris Gross.

HOORAY!!

P.S. Join the facebook group http://tinyurl.com/welfareweek to receive updates, gather information, talk about your feelings, and post pictures of yourselves looking content.

Many Meetings

Rent Negotiations Meeting
On Thursday college meets to set our rents for next year.  Tonight at 7:30 in the JCR we have a Rent Negotiations Meeting to ensure that our President is able to figure out the best negotiation strategy to go forward with.  Bring your thoughts and tactical battlefield manipulation skills to bear - be there.
General Meeting
Then on Sunday of 3rd week we have the next GM.  Motion submission is now open.  If there is something about your JCR that you would like to change and you're not sure how, e-mail a committee member and we'll be glad to help out.
