We’re the JCR Admissions Officers, which means that we
have the task of informing, contacting and showing round prospective
students. If you visit the college or come to one of our Open
Days, we’ll probably be two of the first friendly faces
you’ll see!
This Section has loads of information about the college-
what it’s like to be a student here, how to apply and
how to get in contact. It also contains a web version of our
Alternative Prospectus, in which you can find out about social
life, work commitments, JCR facilities and support networks
in college.
Whatever college you apply to, being at Oxford University
is a fantastic experience, but here at Balliol we think we
belong to a college that has a really unique character. Balliol
is famous for its informality, friendly atmosphere, its work
hard/play hard attitude (though there will always be some
who turn laziness into an art form!) and the fact that no
matter where you’re from, what your interests are, you’re
bound to fit in here.
Whether you’ve applied to Balliol already and want
to take a look at what you can expect when you arrive, whether
you’re thinking about applying in October and want to
find out how or whether you’re just curious about the
college, we hope that this site can tell you all you need
to know. If it doesn’t, then feel free to contact either
of us, we’re more than happy to answer any questions
that you may have (however daft they may seem!)
