Vacation Storage

Student life follows the cycles and peculiarities of Oxford's academic calendar. As a consequence of this, most students have to move out of their room or flat at the end of each term. International and overseas students in particular are then in need of storage facilities for their belongings. Fortunately, Balliol's EM&O officers can offer them two vacation storage rooms. In addition, fridge owners, regardless of their status, are entitled to use another storage room for fridges.

Procedures

  • Those who are not already on the vacation storage list should contact the EM&O officers by Wednesday, 9 AM of 8th Week to be included in the final version for the porters. From Wednesday afternoon you will be able to store your possessions by inquiring at the Porter's Lodge.
  • Ask the porters for the keys. Storage rooms and additional space for fridges are located in the basement of staircase 13.
  • There is a special EM&O weighing scale. It will be found at the pantry (during opening hours) or at the JCR office (staircase 16). Please bring your bod card.
  • Please note that you have to label all your belongings and use solid boxes or suitcases (as solid as possible). The porters offer labels if need you some.
  • Don't produce any kind of rubbish! - Act responsibly.
  • Please read the fact sheet on the storage room doors in case we forgot anything.
  • Plastic storage boxes or vacuum bags can be purchased at Argos, opposite the Westgate Centre (book online before).
