Having been inundated with virulent responses that the Balliol JCR (Registered Charity Number - 1144032) is turning into a Nanny State, I have decided to ignore these and press ahead with the implementation of an alert system for the Weekly Updates.
There will be a test of these procedures on the 31st of April at 3:00 PM.
The JCR Committee has compared the testing of the alert to a one-off fire drill and said the siren would be no louder than a standard mobile ringtone. Balliol JCR Phone users will be prompted to acknowledge the alert by swiping or clicking the message before being able to continue.
The test message will say: “This is a test of Weekly Update Alerts, a new Balliol JCR service that will warn you if there’s a life-changing weekly update nearby. In the case of a real weekly update, follow the instructions in the weekly update to keep yourself and others safe. Visit ballioljcr.org/alerts for more information. This is a test. You do not need to take any action.”
On a completely unrelated note this should not be confused with the marginally less important government alert system.
Do not sleep through our updates. But it's fine to sleep through the Government ones.
