GF = Gilon Fox
HC = Honey Christophers

Officers’ Reports

Quorum has been reached.
CT: There have been reports over the last week of members of the JCR being shouted at and made to feel uncomfortable, due to a motion they had submitted to the GM. This is absolutely unacceptable. While I understand some motions may be controversial and incur more debate than others, there is no room for this type of behaviour. If you disagree with a motion, there are plenty of means to respectfully raise this, whether through submitting an amendment or coming to a GM to engage in polite, civil debate.
I am not expecting no discussion outside of GMs, however, all discussion must be respectful and reasonable, shouting at or abusing members of the JCR for submitting motions is entirely wrong.

Questions to Officers

Tom: If I wanted to recycle at the staircase 21 kitchen, who should I talk to about that?
CT: I think Keeley, will get back to you on that.

Discussion of Entz

Luke: Cleanup crew have been successful, thank you very much.
Consensus that bops have been very good.

Discussion of Motions

Motion: Earlier Submission Date for Motions involving Public Statements by the JCR (CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT)

[Noah, previous Secretary, returns to minute as part of a cameo]
MS explains motion – same as a few weeks ago. Ensuring that public statements by the jcr are sent in slightly earlier.

Questions:
Luke: Can we do short notice send outs?
MS: Can do an emergency gm for a short notice send out of a statement.
Lina: How does that work?
MS: Just email me asking for one.
No points of support or debate.
Passes 26-5 (4 abstain). Needed 75%, passed second consecutive time so Constitution amended.
[Cameo over]

Motion: Purchase of PS5 for FIFA (FC25) by Balliol JCR

GF: We have an old PlayStation, no games, so would be nice to get a new one with games.
Use for FIFA society, anyone can come play, will be very fun, drunk FIFA, sober FIFA, all the varieties. Kept in Masters’ Common Room.
Questions:
Tom: You asked for £500 initially, right?
GF: Yes, it has changed.
Keira: What about the other previous fund passed at a GM?
Noah: It’s for FIFA points.
GF: Need the FIFA game to get FIFA points.
Missed out stuff – nothing too deep.
Lina: Why can’t we get new FIFA game on old PlayStation?
GF: Doesn’t work.
JC: What will we do with old PlayStation?
GF: Sell it.
Someone suggests burning it – dubious how likely this will be.

Points of support and debate:
TM: Support.
Rob: We can do FIFA with shots.
Oli New gave points of support in the middle, something about being better than Brasenose.
Passes 29-10. Needed 60% vote because above £200.

Motion: Grant to support the student production of THE GOAT

HC: Asking for money to support THE GOAT, happening this week in Pilch. Money used for props and rights, asking for £200, proceeds going to charity. Her, Rob and Vita participating.
Her and Vita also spending own money.

Questions:
Nikita: What is the play about?
HC: A man who has an affair with a goat.
Eran: Is it based on a true story?
CT: Loosely based on David Cameron.
A question that I have missed out on – but see the answer:
HC: Have ethically sourced a waste part of a goat.
Jade: What part of the goat?
HC: The head.
CT: I can affirm I saw this in my kitchen.

Points of support and debate:
GF: Supports – standard amount of money for a play for 3 people.
Passes 34-0.
GM adjourned, all rush to pizza.
