Ahhhh...
It's Valentine's Day, and what ho! A beautiful sight!
Adam and his dearest Tanya had set off on a Valentine's Day quest - to touch some grass on one of the first sunny days of 2026. What better than a romantic stroll through Christ Church Meadows.
The plan was simple. Have a cuppa, grab some lunch en route, and share a wild picnic in and amongst the Christ Church cows. Then, disaster struck.
Oh no, disaster! - Adam & Tanya
Firstly, Adam threw a spanner in the works by having an insatiable craving for Sartorelli's Pizza. That La Luciana Sartorelli they sell is quite addictive - anchovies are like crack. Tanya, ever benevolent, was more than happy to delay for such a distraction.
Now, The Covered Market on Valentine's Day is not for the weak. Having ordered some pizzas, the disaster began to rear its head. The kind pizza person declared a 30 minute wait time on pizza.
With 30 minutes to spare, the covered market has far too many tempting endeavours on offer. A brief browse at Socktopus and a stint at Gulp Fiction later, they landed upon a beauty. A wine tasting flight at The Cellar Door - the most tempting endeavour of all.
20 minutes later, full of pizza and wonderful wine, the next distraction hit. Within spitting distance of The Cellar Door, an equally tempting beer flight!!!
How could anyone resist...
A skip and a hop(s), and there they were, beer flight in hand, and it was beautiful.
Sipping that sweet, godly nectar, and mulling over Ben's legendary quiche blogs, an idea was conceived, and the beer blog was born.
A new quest - to find and review beer flights across Oxford. A critical analysis of beer, sweaty balls (the flavour profile), and hazy ones, to be shared with the world.
So much for touching grass...
Watch this space, and a warning: never underestimate the power of beer.
